Arrow Build & FOC Calculator | Plan Your Perfect Arrow Setup

Building a great arrow starts with understanding how each component affects your final setup. Shaft selection, component weight, and balance point all play a role in how an arrow performs.

Our Arrow Build & FOC Calculator helps you plan your arrow build before components are installed. Adjust shaft specifications, point weight, inserts, fletching, and other components to estimate finished arrow weight, balance point, and Front of Center (FOC).

Whether you are fine-tuning a hunting setup, building target arrows, or exploring different arrow configurations, this tool helps you better understand how each choice impacts your final build.

What Is FOC

Front of Center (FOC) describes how much of an arrow’s total weight is positioned toward the front of the shaft. It is expressed as a percentage and helps explain how an arrow’s weight is balanced.

Increasing front weight through heavier points, inserts, or other components moves the arrow’s balance point forward and increases FOC. Changes to rear components, such as nocks, vanes, and wraps, can also influence the final balance of an arrow.

Understanding FOC Values

While there is no single "ideal" Front of Center (FOC) percentage, understanding the general ranges can help you compare arrow builds and better understand how component changes affect balance.

Below 10% — Lower FOC
Places more weight toward the center of the arrow. These setups are less common for hunting arrows but may be used for certain target applications.

10–15% — Moderate FOC
A common range for many hunting and target arrow builds. This balance often provides a good combination of stability and consistent arrow flight.

15–20% — Higher FOC
Moves more weight toward the front of the arrow and is commonly chosen by hunters looking to increase front-end balance and stability.

20%+ — Extreme FOC
Typically used for specialized arrow builds. These setups often require careful attention to arrow spine, component selection, and tuning.

Remember that FOC is only one part of a well-performing arrow. Arrow spine, total arrow weight, component selection, bow setup, and proper tuning all work together to determine overall performance.
