About Us

Our story. That's a fun one. You see, I could tell you it started in 2021 when we decided to open our business, that we, on a whim, decided that archery would be our forever future. We did do just that, except it was not on a whim. The story goes a bit deeper and a bit further back. The actual whim was buying a cheap toy bow from the store as a Christmas gift in 2019 for our oldest son, who was, at the time, nine years old. We had no idea what it would lead to, of course. Some summertime fun shooting targets in the backyard, at the very least. And while that did happen, the fun didn't stop when summer faded away. It was just starting!

Our boys joined 4-H a short time later, and our oldest competed in its archery division. Then, all our boys decided they wanted to shoot archery: a fun mix of compound bows and recurves, targets, and a little brotherly competition.
They joined USA Archery's JOAD Program and started competing around the state of Michigan. Jake took it upon himself to become a level-two archery coach for USA Archery to help the boys progress their skills and keep learning. Snowballing, they joined an S3DA team to shoot 3D tournaments.

Since 2019, we have traveled to countless locations for tournaments in many states year-round: regionals, state tournaments, and national tournaments alike. We've stayed in fancy campgrounds, rustic ones, Airbnb's, and hotels while toting our trusty sidekick Timber (our sweet Labrador Retriever) at our side. We've made life-long archery friends who are now like family. Our teammates are amazing. Binoculars, backpacks, shooter stools, and team tents are what we consider normal. We carry umbrellas on sunny days and almost always have cheese crackers in our side pockets for course snacks. The kids have honed their math skills while learning to score. We schedule vacations around tournaments depending on what season is in: Indoor Target, 3D, Outdoor Target. In short, our lives revolve around this incredible sport, this way of life. It has taught our children many things while giving them a life-long passion for archery. It has also given us invaluable time spent as a family.

Amongst the chaos, in 2021, Fether Archery was founded. It was a way to do what we love while being able to procure archery equipment, tools, and supplies for not only our three sons but also, surprisingly, several other people seeking those same things. We started in our home shop, working on bows in the evenings and coaching on the weekends, but quickly outgrew the space.

In 2024, we took an enormous leap of faith and purchased a new commercial building in Hillsdale, Michigan. This purchase allows us to support even more customers with archery services and adds a retail location, as well. This area of our county hasn't had an archery shop in many years, so we are excited about this opportunity to be the trusted archery pro shop for our many valued customers, friends, and family.
As we continue on this blessed adventure, we look forward to the future and the many smiles, memories, friendships, and learning experiences it will bring!
